4th Annual Our Community, Our Responsibility Fundraiser Gala

11072851_890486544376651_3490962199662198552_oSan Diego, CA: The 4th Annual Our Community, Our Responsibility Fundraiser Gala was hosted by I Am My Brother’s Keeper Community Development Corporation (IAMBKCDC)on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center at Bayview Church. Friends and supporters of IAMBKCDC gathered together to honor community hereos Dr. Willie Morrow, William Tayari Howard, Robert Tambuzi, Marne Foster, Dr. Wilma Wooten and Paving Great Futures. Also honored were the recent graduates of the IAMBK Green Program.

Incorporated in 2005, IAMBKCDC is a community based, minority owned and operated 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Their motto, “Self improvement is the basis of community development” that guides the mission of the organization to develop and operate programs that substantially improve the quality of life for the residents in the City of San Diego.
IAMBKCDC programs include education and supportive services, such as student enrichment, computer lab, entrepreneurship training, mentoring, parenting classes, environmental literacy, workforce development and much more. IAMBKCDC operates several different community based programs including Men Engaging Neighborhoods (MEN), IAMBK Green – training for green jobs and careers, Be There! mentoring program and Silence the Violence Community rallies and events.

IAMBKCDC currently serves the entire City of San Diego with programs operating out of their Southeastern San Diego Encanto location. “We are proud of our history of bringing together diverse populations, in our workforce, our clients and collaborative partners for the common good,” states Student Minister Brother Hugh Muhammad.

“We are incredibly thrilled and humbled by how the community continues to support I am My Brother’s Keeper. We believe in not just helping people, but providing services and resources to allow people to help themselves. Because at the end of the day, no matter who we are and what we believe, most of us wish to live a good life, love the people we love and leave a legacy our grand children’s children can be proud of.
