Coming Town Hall Meeting Oct. 30th, 2014

The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint and Black Men United invite you to attend our Community Town Hall Meeting on Thursday October 30th at the George Steven’s Fourth District Senior Resource Center.

As you know, our Town Hall Meetings are designed to talk “with” you and not “at” you. This meeting is intended to provide an opportunity to take a last look at the candidates and propositions  on the November Ballot the following week. This is not a Candidate’s Forum, however, if candidates should come, you will be given an opportunity to ask questions of them without getting speeches in return. This meeting is important to us because African American voter participation is declining along with our political influence while both items for other ethnic groups in our state are increasing. In addition, there are Propositions on this year’s ballot that effect some of us more than others. We need to know, be informed and vote and if we can’t vote for some reason, we need to be sure that others get to the polls and vote.

This meeting will also be an opportunity to discuss what this Open Enrollment Period between now and January, actually means in terms of either getting or changing insurance coverage under the  options provided by the Affordable Health Care Act.

The meeting is from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will start and end on time. Questions may be emailed to “[email protected]
