unnamedDominique Gray was born on February 19, 1953 to the late Mildred and Robert H. Gray of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dominique was the youngest of three children. Dominique lived the life Christ wants all of us to live. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church (Cincinnati, Ohio). Through Christian experience, Dominique also belonged to several Churches in the cities where she was employed – Second Baptist Church of Evanston (Illinois), Union Baptist Church (White Plains, New York), Hartford Memorial Baptist Church (Detroit, Michigan), and New Life Missionary Baptist Church (Spring Valley, California). Dominique was a member of the BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) International during the past seven years. She also taught Church School, volunteered, taught Vacation Bible School; held membership in the Christian Singles Ministry, Women of New Life. Dominique graduated from Walnut Hills Preparatory High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) and completed Undergraduate Studies at The Ohio State University. Dominique held various leadership positions while at Ohio State University – The Edward S. Beanie Drake Student Leadership Endowment Fund Award and Scholarship, Freshman and Sophomore Student Council Representative, Chimes National Honor Society. Dominique held other Leadership positions: Illinois Bell Careers in Telecommunications Spokesperson; National Child Evangelism Fellowship Certification. Following her graduation, she was employed at Illinois Bell in Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Chicago Business School. Dominique completed an MBA Degree (concentration Finance, Marketing) in 1988. She began her corporate career with Kraft General Foods (White Plains, New York); Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). In 1996, Dominique was diagnosed with a chronic illness and changed to a Teaching (Substitute) Career in the Farmington, Michigan School District. In 2008, she relocated to San Diego, California and continued this career in the Grossmont School District (El Cajon), and the San Diego Unified School District. Dominique received Citations of Excellence from the School Superintendents in each of these Districts. Dominique was involved in many community endeavors – Candy Striper at Christ Hospital (Ohio) in her teen years; member/violinist in the Cincinnati Junior Symphony Orchestra; Girl Scout; Campus Activities – The Ohio State University; Chicago Public Schools/Illinois Bell Partnership – Science Fair Judge; Delegate – Progressive National Baptist Conference; member, officer, National Black MBA Association (Chicago, Detroit Chapters); Volunteer Oakdale Senior Living Facility (La Mesa, California). Dominique had so many friends during her lifetime: childhood friends from Cincinnati; friends from Ohio State; Chicago; New York; New Jersey; Michigan; North Carolina; Kansas; Georgia; Maryland; California. She travelled to over half of the United States; Europe; Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea; Caribbean Islands; Mexico. She loved outings with friends and family such as Art Exhibits, Museums, and Fine Arts Films. Dominique kept friends and family updated with her Annual Holiday Newsletter. Dominique was affectionately called Nita, “Auntie Nit” by family members. Dominique loved visiting with family; staying in touch and connecting relatives with other family members. She loved baking cookies and cupcakes for her nephews and god daughters. Dominique leaves to mourn loving brother and sister-in-law Dwight and Myra Gray (San Luis Obispo, CA); loving sister Antoinette Rance (Southfield, MI); two devoted nephews – Jacob E. Gray (Marcria) Bend, Oregon and Robert S. Rance (Southfield, MI); loving niece Shalena R. Rance (Atlanta, Georgia); two loving Goddaughters – Chelsea Mary Elise Johnson (Brooklyn, New York) and Lindsay Monique Tucker (Toledo, Ohio); a host of cousins, Aunts – Mrs. Bessie Tillery, Mrs. Eugenia Ewing (Cincinnati, Ohio), Mrs. Johnnie Wilder (Tuscaloosa, Alabama); Uncles – Mr. Jesse Hamilton (Matlyn) (Washington, D.C.), Mr. Frank Hamilton (Carrie Nell) (Cleveland, OH), Mr. Philip Gray (Nancy), Mr. Reginald Gray (Cincinnati, OH); a host of relatives, and special friends – Darryl Bailey, Gabrielle Flemeister, Bonita Johnson, Cheryl Breech, Germaine Glass, James Lamb, Barbara Lewis, Yameena Hollifield, Clarita Mays, Donna Pergeau, Carnell Jones (MI); Alice and Gordon Nelson (NY); Brenda and Fred Lindsay (Clinton, MS); Marilyn and Rev Herndon Anderson; Dr. Donna and John Ebron; Dr. Craig Williams (OH); Cynthia and Rhonnie Johnson (Charlotte, NC); Pam and Annanias Rose, Vondell and Weldon Cook, Glenda Johnson, Dr. Wantzu and Dr. Wen-Shin Liu (San Diego, CA); Dr. Marvella Ford (Charleston, South Carolina); John and Elaine St. Laurent (Oregon); Bridgett and Elliott Heller (New Jersey); Martha and Milton Fan (Maryland); Kathyrn Lauderdale (District of Columbia); Serethea and Ronald Reid (Illinois). Graveside services will be held at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH. Local arrangements were with Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary in San Diego. Thompson-Hall & Jordan Funeral Home in Cincinnati.
