obits-11-240001Donna Marie Williams, was born on February 7th 1955 to Hosie and Dorothy Williams in El Centro, California. She was the 5th child of 12 children. She attended Centro Union High School. Class of 1973. She played softball with the team “The Killers” in a community league. As a child, she was also a member of the drill team called “The Black and White Angels”, founded by her mother, Dorothy Williams. Donna received her LVN license at Pacific Coast College in 2001. Once she became an LVN she liked that field so she did not pursue any other field. On December 7th 1976, she united in holy matrimony with Leon Smith. In the early 90’s, Donna, rededicated her life to the Lord and became a member of Abundant Life. Donna was the “Matriarch” of her family. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and other necessities for her family. She was known for her delicious cheesecakes and helping others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was loved by so many. Donna had a warm, kind and gentle heart. Her most precious treasures were her children and grandchildren, having yearly “girl-time” vacations with her sisters and attending family gatherings. Her favorite songs were ‘If we are the light” by Denise Williams and “Dance like David” by Fred Hammond. On Friday, October 28th, 2016, Donna Marie Smith departed this life peacefully with her family at her bedside. She was preceded in death by both her mother and father; son, Komar Smith; brothers, Hosie B. Jr., Quentin Gonder, and sister, Regena Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Leon Smith; her sons, Eric Lewis, Nicoy Smith; daughter, Rashida Kidd (Leo); all of San Diego, CA; her brothers, Wayne Gonder, James Williams (Lydia); both of El Centro, CA, Herman “Skip” Williams; of Vancouver, Canada, Don Williams and Darryl Williams (Carla); both of Modesto, CA, and Michael Williams of San Diego, CA; her sisters, Carol Williams of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Terry Wines (Elijah) of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Sasha, Erica, Tajanae, Nicoy Jr., Anita, Melvin, Damage, Ayannah, Shakara, Makai, Damali and Eric Jr. Six great-grandchildren, Sanaiyah, Jaliah, Malik, Malikai, Brooklyn and Alaysia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life.
