FENTRESS, ELIZABETH-1Elizabeth Williams Fentress was born June 26, 1947, in Greenwood, Mississippi, where she was given the nickname “Cliddy” in which she has been lovingly known throughout adulthood. She moved to Anderson, Indiana as a child and attended elementary, junior high and later graduated from Anderson High School. While rearing three children and working, she went on to take college courses at Ball State University and Anderson (College) University. Elizabeth strived to provide the best life for her family while being employed by Brockway Glass, General Motors, and Martin Murrieta. She also received a certificate in nursing from Delgado College in New Orleans, LA, which later permitted her to pursue her passion for helping others. Through nursing, she was able to demonstrate her love and compassion for people. She would eventually retire from the home health care field, which allowed her to make lasting memories and friendships. In 1984, Elizabeth relocated to southern California where she remained until her eternal rest. While living in Oceanside, California, she met the love of her life Mr. William Fentress and once again received another nickname “Sapphire” by her loving husband. Elizabeth received Christ into her life at an early age and later on in her life’s journey rededicated her life to the Lord and became a member of New Venture Christian Fellowship in Oceanside, CA. She volunteered her services at various church events and was a member of small groups at the church. Elizabeth has always had compassion for helping others whenever there was a need. Throughout the years, she was actively involved with the homeless ministry and has even invited a homeless single mother and her children for Christmas dinner. She had a spirit of hospitality, and whenever you entered her home, you always felt welcomed and loved. Elizabeth was also a member of various social and civic organizations, which included Order of Eastern Star and the NAACP. She loved to travel, spend time with family and friends and was an avid Fan of the San Diego Chargers. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, William Fentress; children, Vonda K. (Tim) Rogers of Apostle George (Anngel) Pearson and Mary Elizabeth (Ken) Francis. Siblings Hattie May Lark, Freddie Mae (Robert) Davis, Neda Watson, Lesteen (Andre) Ford, Angela Williams and Robert James( RJ) Booker and Pastor Anthony Hopgood Sr. Grandchildren include Teairra Graves, Janeeka Pearson, Stedman Graves, Zenetric Fields, Mel’quisha Pearson, Darren ( Devinae) Broussard Jr., Timothy Rogers Jr., Elizabeth Christine Rogers and Darrius Broussard. Two Great-Grandchildren, Ta’Riah Perine and Darren Broussard III. Along with an uncle, John Brooks Sr., and Aunts, Annie Williams, Queen Brooks, Vinnie Foster and Myrtle(Bill) Curry along with special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elizabeth is preceded in death, by her mother Mary B. Hopgood and fathers Freddie Williams and Joseph Hopgood Jr. Brothers, Freddie Williams Jr., and Joseph Hopgood III. Uncles, Oliver Brooks Jr., Floyd Hopgood Sr. and Jester Brooks. Aunts, Minnie(Mose) Booker and a Great-Aunt Cassie Brumfield. Also a grandson Norman Douglas Broussard.
