EMBODI(Saturday, March 7, 2015) –  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., San Diego Alumnae Chapter (SDAC) will host the 4th Annual EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence) free one-day summit from 8:00 a.m. (check in starts at 7:30) – 4:30 p.m. on the campus of University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Multipurpose Room, in the Student Services Center (across from the Triton Center).  Snacks and lunch are included.

SDAC has been a recognized organization in San Diego County since 1938.  Throughout the year SDAC members continue their commitment to transforming under-served communities through service, leadership, and empowerment while also extending programs and public service initiatives within their Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: economic development, educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental health, and political awareness and involvement within the San Diego community.  In support of the sorority’s national theme for EMBODI, “Preparing Our Sons for Manhood”, a national initiative to address current disparities targeting African American teen males, SDAC’s 2015 EMBODI Summit will provide interactive and engaging workshops/discussions led by dynamic African American male professionals focusing on entrepreneurship, the power of hip-hop, emotional development, racial profiling, and career development.  Through collaboration, EMBODI was designed to partner with organizations and groups within the community who share a common interest in addressing the plight of an often-overlooked demographic – young men of color.

SDAC is excited to have the University of California, San Diego Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools as a sponsor, and the inspirational keynote speaker is Mr. Terrell Fletcher, Senior Pastor of City of Hope International Church, CEO of Wake Up Ur Dream, Philanthropist, and former San Diego Charger.  For more information, contact Kiyyah Edwards: 770-369-7217 or [email protected].  To register a teen access: https://embodisdac.wufoo.com/forms/sdac-embodi/ and to join the Facebook event go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/322131084639122/.
