Obits 4-14-160003Girlene Ivy Mae (Campbell) Garcia was the second child born to Floyd and Arvillie Campbell of Beaumont, Mississippi. On July 25, 1932, known as Girlie by her parents and siblings arrived in Beaumont. She graduated Beaumont High School. Following graduation from high school, she married Rufus Herman Ramsey and moved to Los Angeles. Together they had six children: Francis (Morrow), Michael, Donnie, Terry, Tim, and Tyrone. Upon her death she was reunited with her four oldest children, her parents and all of her siblings. Tim and Tyrone remain to mourn her death. Girlene was the life of the party –  always laughing and telling stories. A bit of a flirt and an absolute truth-teller. You always knew how Girlene honestly felt about any situation. With a bit of humor, she would bring up the family secrets and tell you the real dirt. Girlene was an excellent cook, making melt in your mouth biscuits, delicious fried chicken, dressing, and Tim’s favorite hoghead cheese. Her family enjoyed and appreciated her cooking. She worked as a dietician for the Veteran’s Hospital in San Diego where lucky veterans were able to enjoy her good cooking. After working for more than 30 years she retired and began spending more time doing two of her favorite things: fishing, watching baseball and playing the slots at the casino. Girlene could work the penny and nickel slots. She loved the Padres and seldom missed a game (on TV). She could often be found on the banks of Santee Lakes casting a line. Fishing made her happy, she said it was a peaceful way to spend your time. As a preacher’s kid, Girlene stayed connected to her faith. She was long time member of Bayview Baptist Church. She seldom missed Sunday service until failing health kept her at home. She enjoyed singing in church. Girlene was preceded in death by her last husband Joe Garcia, her parents Arvillie and Floyd Campbell, her siblings Floyd, Elgin, Benjamin, Williesteen and Perry, in-laws: Alex Hunter, Lois V. Campbell and Marie Campbell. She leaves to mourn her passing her sons Tim (wife Lilian) and Tyrone (wife Lynn), daughter-in-law Olivia (Terry’s wife), her sister-in-laws Mary Campbell and Wanda Campbell, her grandchildren Tracie, Tanesha, Tyrone, Jr., Terry and Courtney. She will also be mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
