Kimora Lee Simmons is not known for her charity work, but her latest action might change this a bit.  Kimora happens to be from St. Louis, the city where 18-year old Michael Brown was shot and killed by police on August 9.

Clearly, like the rest of the country, Kimora paid close attention to the developments in Ferguson, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis.  But she’s also taking the time to get involved by using her star power to make a real difference in the lives of Michael Brown’s family members.

Among other things, Kimora created a Go Fund Me page in order to raise money for Michael and his family.  Within 24 hours, the page had raised $44,000 and it has raised $58,000 at the time of this writing.  She also tweeted to her followers that she’d reached out to the Brown family and offered to pay for this funeral.

This is a noble gesture that has earned Kimora a great deal of praise from her fans.  It doesn’t go unnoticed that she made sure her fans knew that she was engaged in this charitable act, which shows that she was also thinking about the good publicity it might muster.  But that doesn’t mean that her heart wasn’t in the right place.

Kimora also encouraged supporters of Michael Brown to leave words of encouragement on the funding page in the event that they were unable to leave any money.  Good job Kimora, this is a great contribution to society.
