Mark Pearson August 28, 1956-July 26, 2017

Our mark was born August 28, 1956 at Paradise Valley Hospital in National City, California. Granny and Daddy(George Sr.) happily and proudly welcomed their fourth born child into the family. His big brothers and sister adored him and took turns spoiling him.

Even though Mark was beset with illness and disability at a very early age, he was an active and cheerful child. He enjoyed playing football in the street with his big brothers and neighborhood friends. He also enjoyed  playing checkers.
Mark attended Knox elementary school for a brief period, but transferred to another school that better met his special needs. Mark was baptized at age nine by Dr. Charles H. Hampton, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, the family’s church home.
Mark had natural athletic abilities and began active participation in the Special Olympics at a young age. He excelled in running track and amazed his coaches and onlookers with his amazing speed and endurance. Mark received many first place medals and ribbons over the years and continued in Special Olympics(bowling and bocce ball) until a few months before his death. He was still winning 1st place medals!
Mark had reside at Fairview Development Center in Costa Mesa for many years and enjoyed it there. He endeared himself to the staff and other clients and they affectionately called him “Papa Bear”.
Mark‘s health had been failing and God called him home to rest on July 26, 2017. Even though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing that he is in a much better place. Mark is at peace in the arms of our Lord, and with his Daddy and big brother, George Jr. He is no longer disabled or suffering.
Remember the good times with Mark, and there were many, and know that God knows best concerning all of us.
May God Bless us all, give us strength, and grow us closer as a family.
