Mary TaylorMary Francise Taylor  was born May 1, 1926 in Gould, Arkansas. She was an only child born to loving parents, George and Beatrice Taylor. She began her education in Arkansas. She completed he education in Chicago. In 1955, Mary moved to San Diego, California, making it her permanent residence. Sometime after her arrival, she began employment at North Island Naval Air Station with the Officers Club. She made many lasting friendships throughout her seven years of service at North Island. Afterwards, she found employment with UCSD as an Environmental Service Worker. She retired in 1993 after twenty years of excellent service. On October 2, 1964, Mary gave birth to a beautiful baby boy whom she named Brian Keith Milligan.  She was an excellent and loving mother. She adored her son and made sure that he had all that he needed. Mary was a long time member of Mount Erie Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Walter G. Wells. She was faithful in service until her health began to deteriorate. Mary was also a member of the Y’s Men’s Co-Ed Club at Jackie Robinson YMCA, where for numerous years, she supported many youth who attended the various programs.  Mary had many passions. She was an avid bowler who also traveled with the 500 Club and with DJ’s Tours to La Vegas, Laughlin and Lake Tahoe; she attended and enjoyed San Diego Read, where she received numerous certificates from the Adult Literacy Program. Mary was very loving and caring. She loved her family unconditionally and they dearly loved her. She also earned the title “the Family Baker” and was known for her old fashioned lemon pies, lemon drop pound cake, peach and apple cobbler and especially her fabulous sweet potato pies. She will be forever remembered for her warm, caring, loving and kind nature. On Friday, August 12, 2016, Mary Francise Taylor was called home for eternal rest. She was welcomed into the Kingdom by her mother, Beatrice Curtis; stepfather, Henry Curtis; aunt and uncle, Louise and Odell Griffin; and grandparents, Estella and Benny Baker. Blessed with loving memories are her son, Brian Keith Milligan; cousins, Pearlie Foster; Rubye Jean Jackson, Krystal and Craig Foster, Larry Wright, Jocelyn and Kevin Barnes, Khloe and Kevin Luke Barnes Jr. Services were held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary Memorial Chapel; interment at Greenwood Memorial Park.
