The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir San Diego Releases Its 2nd CD

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir, also known as the MLK Choir San Diego, announces the release of its second CD – “Make a Joyful Noise.” Their first CD ~ “Now Unto Him” was released in 2002, with many favorite songs, i.e., The Benediction – Jesus is a Friend of Mine – Now and Forever, to name a few.

The Choir originally joined together to perform annually as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Choir. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir San Diego had its beginning in1996, with Kenneth Anderson as director.

The Choir at that time featured volunteer choir members from the San Diego County only. Today, over 100 volunteer choir members are from the San Diego and Riverside Counties.

The purpose of the choir is to perform gospel concerts to raise funds for educational grants to give to San Diego County high school seniors pursuing a college degree in the visual and performing arts. The music is inspirational and uplifting, and celebrates the history of the Negro spiritual.

The celebration of the CD Release will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Christian Fellowship Congregational Church, 1601 Kelton Road, San Diego, CA 92114 – 5:00 p.m. Admission: Free  – Gospel Concert – Reception to Follow.
