Yeshu Gebrerufael Abay

April 16, 1952 – July 24, 2016

00000001 (2) (1)Our dear and beloved mother, Yeshu Gebrerufael Abay, was born on April 16, 1952 from her father Ato Gebrurufael Abay and mother Ms. Hiwet Kifle in Zban Una, Tekela District, Southern Administrative Zone. Ms. Yeshu attended elementary school and completed 4th grade in her village. When she reached adolescent age, she got married to Mr. Negasi Tewelde. God blessed them with beautiful children: Aster, Tsega, Eden, the late martyr Goitom, Selamawit, Michael and Semere. Ms. Yeshu came to the United States of America in 2002 to visit her daughter, Aster, and son, Semere. She had spent a quality time of 14 beautiful years with her daughter, Aster and son in-law, Gebrihiwet Weldeselase. After a sudden and brief illness, Ms. Yeshu passed away and called to her heavenly home on July 24th, 2016 surrounded by the love and support of her children and grandchildren. She survived by two sisters and two brothers: Ms. Asli, Mr. Iyassu, Mr. Habtemariam, Ms. Saba, and 14 grandchildren: Rahwa, Hiwet, Ermias, Simon, Daniel, Bereket, Amanuel, Hermon, Michael, Seliana, Semhar, Lydia, Ida and Sened. Ms. Yeshu was humble, caring, loving and wise person. These amiable and wonderful qualities gained her many friends. The love, kindness and care she showed her children, grandchildren, family and to all the people she had in her life will forever live in their hearts. She was a Christian and God-fearing person who often exhibited her Christian beliefs and values by regularly attending church and treating people with respect and love. She had such a strong faith that she was committed to her church and she walked consistently with God. She did everything that any believer would do. We pray for God to bless her in His Heavenly home alongside with all the saints she adored and comfort her family during this time of loss. Services were held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Kidane Mihret Orthodox Church; interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Final arrangements entrusted to Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary.

The lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths pf righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalms 23: 1-3
