This Saturday at 5:30pm, the Inaugural San Diego Industry All-Star Game will be held at San Diego High School’s main gym. The game will feature members of the San Diego Community, the San Diego Police Department, and other entertainers from outside of San Diego. Torrion Dedman, a San Diego native and singer is one of the co-founders of the game.

“One of my long-time friends from High School, Abraham Muhieze has been doing alumni games out in El Cajon for a while, and I’ve been doing my thing in the industry, so I went to him and pitched the idea of mixing basketball with the industry and starting an annual game for the city,” said Dedmon.

San Diego is a melting pot of cultures. Some are home grown and others are members of the Military community. A positive event such as this is good for the city to show off its multi-cultural presence.

“San Diego is a big city, and I feel we have just as much to offer as any other city. This event gives everyone an opportunity to see that. A lot of people have their thoughts about what San Diego is about already, but at the end of the day what we are trying to do here is a reality, and that’s letting everyone recognize the black presence here, and also the unity of our community. A lot of other places are able to have the same type of events for their communities, and it’s time that we do the same here. It just starts with us reaching out to the community and everyone coming together with open minds.”

Some of the Proceeds from this event will go to an organization called Alumni United.

“The purpose of our organization is to have different fund raisers to help raise money for high schools in our community. We help donate money for ASB, high school sports, trips, and other school needs.”

Though the event will help raise money, success is not based solely on the money that will be made.

“At the end of the day, this is something positive and fun for the community. We want everyone to come out, bring the kids and their family and just enjoy themselves, as long as that happens our event will be successful in our eyes.”

Besides the game, you can expect performances from R&B singer Eric Bellinger, and Dedmon himself. Music will also be provided by Jam’n 95.7 and many more.
