THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK SOCIAL WORKERS ANNOUNCES ITS 40TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) — The National Association of Black Social Workers’’ (NABSW) 40th International Education Conference will take place on August 4-14, 2017 in Ghana, with an optional extension to Morocco. NABSW will celebrate Ghana’s 60th year of independence from colonial rule. J. Toni Oliver, NABSW National President, recently announced this year’s conference theme is “60 years of Ghanaian Independence: Returning to our Roots!”

NABSW is excited to return to Ghana and Morocco this year to connect with Ghanaian and Moroccan social workers, learning about our African history and culture and experiencing current day life in the Accra and El Mina, Ghana and Casablanca, Morocco. . The conference features presenters and panel discussions on African culture, art, history, and social issues and will present donations to local organizations to support their community initiatives. The itinerary includes visits to Osu Castle in Accra; The W.E.B. Dubois Memorial Centre for Pan African Culture; Herbal Medicine Village; Assin Manso to view one of the biggest slave markets during the slave trade era; El Mina. In Morocco the itinerary includes a tour the majestic Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Medersa Ben Youssef in Marrakech and much more! Attendees should expect to return home with rich memories of history, shopping, restaurants, museums and entertainment.
