Amanda Bryant

Amanda Bryant was born May 8, 1921 in Newton County Texas, she was one of four children born to Silas and Dora (Jackson) Tompkins. Amanda gave her life at an early age to God where she was an active member in church. Amanda met George A. Bryant in 1938 in Silsbee, Texas. And through this union they were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Helen Rush, Dessor Morrow and Dora Bryant. In 1954, Amanda and her family moved to Pittsburgh, CA. where they lived several years before moving to San Diego, CA. Amanda worked for the San Diego Unified School district until retirement. Amanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved her family unconditionally and they loved her. Her warm and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Amanda was preceded in death by both parents, two daughters Helen Rush and Dora Bryant, brother Leo Isaac Tompkin(s), two sisters Elizabeth (Tompkins) Rankin, Mary Louise (Tompkins) Drummond, grandsons Anthony Morrow, Todd Morrow and granddaughter Michelle Rush. On Tuesday July 19, 2016, Amanda Bryant was called from Earth’s labor to eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memories, first cousins Mary Ann (Jackson) Malray and Louis Jackson, nieces Lucille Mason and family, Leona (Tompkin) Addo, Cheryl (Tompkin) Vincent and family, Rosanne (Tompkin) MacDonald and family, nephews Leo Isaac Tompkin Jr. and family, William Drummond and family, Harry Spikes and family, grandchildren Devonie Morrow Jr. and family, Glenn Morrow and family, Marcellous Morrow and family, Charles Mingus and family, Jenise Harrison, Denise Harrison and family, and a host of family and friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her legacy.
