About Us

For more than six decades, The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint has faithfully reported news to the diverse communities of San Diego County from an African-American perspective. From small church gatherings to major political campaigns, as San Diego’s largest African-American publication, our news features have highlighted people and events in a comprehensive manner, while commentators have argued from different points of view in the lively op-ed pages. The Voice & Viewpoint has grown over the years to cover over 350 newsstands and outlets. Our publication can be found in 89 zip codes of San Diego and has a print readership of over 25,000 weekly.

Dr. John Warren has been the Publisher of the San Diego Voice & Viewpoint since 1987. Dr. Warren and his late wife and co-publisher, Gerri Warren, worked diligently with the community to make a publication that the people want.
