Dr. Akilah Weber representing the 79th district and friends hosted their annual free backpack giveaway at Lincoln High School last weekend.
Young knowledge seekers were able to get some brand new backpacks and school supplies in preparation for the fast approaching new school year.
Resource booths also filled the busy gymnasium with additional supplies and valuable information and opportunities.
“This was our 12th annual backpack and school supply giveaway and I’m so honored to continue the tradition of giving back that my predecessor Dr. Shirley Weber started,” Dr. Akilah Weber shared.
McDonald’s, Blue California, Amazon, Everest, IBEW, Barona, and San Diego Foundation were some of the much appreciated sponsors that supported the 12th Annual Backpack Giveaway.
The first-rate backpacks came in a variety of colors and created a variety of smiles.
“This is our way of making sure that the kids in our community have what they need to start off a successful academic year,” shared Dr. Weber.
