“This was our first toy drive in honor of Todd Doxey Jr.,” Pat Harris, former youth football coach and event coordinator shared.

“Judging by the support and turnout hopefully we should be able to do it again,” he continued.

Last Saturday, people were asked to bring toys and good cheer to the Elk’s Lodge on Hensley Street  in support of former superstar athlete, Todd Doxey Jr. and the Grandparents Connection non-profit association.

Members from some of San Diego’s finest lowrider car and motorcycle clubs, local sororities with friends, family, and other supportive associations showed up to support the important event.

“This was a way to help keep Todd’s memory alive, a young man like him should never be forgotten. He wasn’t just an exceptional football and basketball talent, he was also a young man of high-character with a 4.0 G.P.A,” Coach Pat Harris shared.

Todd’s former Pop Warner football coach (Balboa Raiders) Criag Chantre, had this say about Doxey. “We lost Todd in a tragic drowning accident in his freshman year of College while attending the University of Oregon in 2008”.

“Todd was so coachable and cool, I think this was definitely a great event in honor of Todd and a great way to help the kids of the community.”
