Jimmy Louis Fuller, fondly known as “Jim” to some and “Jim Slick” to others, was the sixth of seven children born to Posey Sr. and Zola Mae Fuller on May 22, 1941, in Opelika, Alabama. He spent his early years in the Opelika area and graduated from J. W. Darden High School in 1958.

On February 14, 1960, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. During his 10 years of honorable service, he was stationed aboard the USS Taussig and USS General Mitchell, as well as on shore duty. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1970.

In 1967, Jimmy met the love of his life, Ms. Glen Dean Bell, and they were married on
April 27, 1968, in San Diego, California. Two children were born to this union: their son, Eric Demarest, born March 10, 1971, and their daughter, Summer Dior, born December 17, 1977.

After completing his military service, Jim attended San Diego City College, earning an
Associate’s Degree in Accounting. He later graduated from San Diego State University in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration. Shortly thereafter, Jim accepted a position with the San Diego Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC). While working bi-vocationally and serving in ministry, he eventually answered the call to full-time ministry.

After relocating to San Diego through his Navy service, Jim united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he was baptized under the late Rev. H. V. Bennett. He later joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church on January 5, 1975, under Pastor Devonie Morrow, Sr. There, he was ordained as a Deacon and faithfully served until answering his call to preach.

On July 6, 1980, Reverend Jimmy L. Fuller was licensed and ordained. In 1984, with Pastor Morrow’s support, Jim organized Ambassadors for Christ Missionary Baptist Church, serving as its Pastor. Committed to serving the marginalized, he established a
weekly feeding ministry and led efforts to relieve financial burdens within the church and
community, believing faith must be lived through service.

Jimmy departed this life on December 5, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his siblings; Robert L. Fuller, Posey Fuller, Jr., O. Z. Fuller, Lola Mae Carr, Doris Cloud, and Thelma Shealey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 58 years Mrs. Glen Dean (Bell) Fuller, son Eric (LaTashia), daughter Summer, four grandchildren, one great-grandson, extended family, and a host of relatives and friends.
