On the second Saturday of Black History Month, Historical Bethel AME Church led by Pastor Harvey Voughn III, continued its month-long celebration with their annual Valentine’s Day event.

The man’s ministry of Bethel, also known as the Man of Bethel (MOB), hosted and sponsored the special occasion, honoring the woman of the church with an enjoyable brunch and awards ceremony.

Lead event coordinators Edward Carroll and Charles Wheeler went the extra mile with the colorful decor, live entertainment, a tasty menu featuring Brother Reggie “The Pie Man’s,” famous peach cobbler, and some good old fashioned hospitality.

The program featured lively entertainment from one of San Diego’s most sought-after acts, Fuzzy & the Band, as well as a soulful performance by R&B crooner Floyd Smith; they did not disappoint.

The attendees saw the men of Bethel, including Pastor Vaughn, transform into very capable cooks, bus-boys and servers for the day.

The occasion also featured charismatic guest speaker, Pastor Jorrad Moten of New Assurance Baptist Church.

Bethel’s ladies got the full Valentine’s Day treatment in connection with Black History Month.

Black girl magic was in full effect and they were treated with tender loving care, thanks to the thoughtfulness and positive energy of the MOB.

“We honored Brigitte Jordan for her many contributions to the MOB, we thank and appreciate her. We love and appreciate all the award recipients and the women that showed up, and once again making our event a huge success. It’s all about love,” MOB’s Charles Wheeler and Edward Carroll shared.
