As we approach the new fiscal year on July 1st, the Office of Mayor Todd Gloria asks residents to fill out a survey to determine which programs and services will remain or be extracted from this year’s City budget.

In his weekly newsletter, Mayor Gloria states there is a $120 million deficit in the budget; citing “high costs and lower revenues” as reason for the significant gap. This year’s budget will require more cuts than the previous year, including city positions, programs and services.

Before the final budget is adopted in June, a draft will be released on April 15. The City Council will use public meetings, the Resident Budget Survey and any additional feedback received by writing, in person, or virtually, to determine what remains in the year’s fiscal budget.

Residents can fill out the budget survey at  www.sandiego.gov/BudgetSurvey. The survey is available in English and Spanish through early May.

“Inevitably, this will be a budget process that will require tough conversations and tough decisions, but my commitment to you is that we will be honest about the challenge we face, we will live within our means, and we will align what we spend with what we bring in,” the Mayor wrote.
