Kenneth Richard Newell, known to many as Kenny or Ken, was born on July 14, 1957, in Corona, California, to Lena Mae and Southgay Edward Newell Sr. Kenny was loved by his siblings; Southgay Edward Newell Jr (Eddie), Beatrice Marshall, Belinda Newell, Paul Hendricks, James and Gwendolyn Newell.
Kenny was a proud graduate of Crawford High School and Grossmont College in San Diego County. He shared his passion for cooking with all of his family and friends. He was a self taught chef in the kitchen and a master on the grill. When Kenny wasn’t cooking, he was enjoying his beloved Los Angeles Lakers play. Purple and Gold were his colors. On their frequent trips to his wife’s hometown of Texarkana, Kenny enjoyed visiting St. James Baptist Church, led by Reverend Jordan.
Kenny passed away on April 14, 2026.
Kenneth Richard Newell is survived by his wife Cynthia (Tina) Newell, children; Kenisha Newell-Sidney, Kenneth Chester (KC) Newell, stepson David (Cuda), and Walter (Boo). His 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, who call him PawPaw, are left to cherish his memories.
