There is an infinite supply of studies, opinion editorials, films, etc. that tell you the characteristics you should look for in a potentially “good” mate.  This article will probably encompass all of the things you’ve heard/read in the past. According to Elite Daily, people who read are (scientifically) the best to fall in love with. Why? According to studies published by psychologist Raymond Mar and professor of cognitive psychology Keith Oatley, people who read fiction are capable of the most empathy and “theory of mind,” i.e. the ability to hold opinions, beliefs, and interests apart from their own. In other words, they can entertain other ideas without rejecting their own beliefs and feelings about things.

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense because readers are forced to understand a wide range of personalities to fully grasp the storyline.  Readers become deeply entrenched with the character(s) in the book, this type of reading, according to TIME magazine’s Annie Murphy Paul, is called “deep reading,” which is a practice that will assuredly be extinct since people are skimming more and reading less.
