The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that is dedicated to providing support for diversifying the legal community, mentoring African American law students and supporting African American attorneys in their professional development.

The Foundation will host its 39th Annual Awards and Scholarship Dinner themed “Remembering the Past” on Saturday, November 7th at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego located at 910 W. Broadway Circle.

The festivities will commence at 6pm on the Westin Gaslamp’s Garden Terrace with a network reception/cocktail hour where judges, legal professionals, local dignitaries and law students will receive greetings from Speaker of the Assembly, Toni Atkins. The Annual Awards and Scholarship Dinner program will commence at 7pm in the San Diego Ballroom lead by Master of Ceremony, NBC News Reporter Omari Fleming.

Brittney Dobbins, a former law student scholarship recipient of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar states “Attending the annual dinner has been particularly beneficial to my legal development. My first year of law school I met my mentor, Nancy L. Stagg a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, a relationship that resulted in my interning with the national firm my third year of law school. My second year of law school I was awarded a bar scholarship that helped me prepare financially for the bar. Post bar I met my mentor and current employer, Janice P. Brown owner and partner of Brown Law Group, a relationship that lead to my current practice focusing on employment law and all areas of business litigation.”  This year the Earl B. Gilliam Bar will award scholarships to six deserving African American law students.

Come celebrate with us by honoring a pillar of our community, Judge Tina Littlejohn and legal trailblazer, Attorney Randy K. Jones.  Judge Vallera Johnson and Judge John Houston will install the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Board.
