Bayside Park in Chula Vista was the perfect venue on the 12th of July for the Grandparents Connection’s (GPC) 21st Annual Community Picnic and Cancer Awareness Walk.

The participants of the big event were treated to a finger-licking good buffet provided by Soul Food & BBQ all-stars (Kitchen Me Rollin).

Local District representatives Monica Montgomery-Steppe, Henry Foster III and Paloma Aguirre checked in to soak up the friendly atmosphere of joy and happiness in support of event organizers Cliff and Shearl Lambert of the GPC.

Pastor T.L. Miller and Chaplain Patty Allen blessed the special occasion, amen!

Award-winning jazz Harpist Mariea Antoinette, the Junkyard Dance Crew, Ladies of Soul tribute to the legends, Saxophonist John Serrano, soul brother Greg Lester and the legendary Errvery bodi Line Dancers. They were some of the list of talent that graced the main stage at the Grandparents Connection Bayside function.

There was a wide range of activities for all ages, including inflatable bounce houses, information-booths, drawings, creative vendors and the popular mechanical bull bucking machine.

“The mechanical bull was a big hit,โ€ Shearl Lambert shared. “We wanted to try something different this year and it was hilarious!โ€

The bull provided laugh-out-loud, endless entertainment.

There was a strong sense of family reunion vibe at the big celebration and appreciation.

“This was a wonderful event, it was off the chain, it filled my soul. I know I had a great time, good food, camaraderie and musical entertainment, no complaints.” Event volunteer Janet Hasley shared.

The GPC would also like to thank their numerous sponsors for their unyielding support as they continue to raise money and awareness in their fight against cancer.
