Part-time: 9:00 to 3:30pm M-Thurs, Fridays 9 to Noon.

We are an established community newspaper with over 6 decades of tradition serving community news from an African American perspective.

Our office is located in the heart of the community. If you are looking for a long-term PT opportunity, not just a pit stop, this position may be for you.

You are the face of our company. We ask that you be professionally attired, customer friendly, detail-oriented, and a self-motivated problem solver. You type at least 50wpm, possess professional office communication skills and are proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, and basic Google Office Suite, with basic Adobe Acrobat Reader preferred.

Job duties include:

  • Motivated and reliable team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, and Google Office Suite. Some basic experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with a fast and accurate typing speed (min. 60 wpm) to perform administrative tasks and to process orders for print classifieds and legal notices, business directories, and obituaries for publication.
  • Assist staff with price quotes for newspaper print and digital ads and placements. (we train)
  • Provide excellent customer service and the ability to work proficiently in a professional, fast paced environment.
  • Greet, interact with, and process orders in a professional and friendly manner with walk-in customers and phone-in customers.
  • Ability to work reliably and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Part-time, 5 days a week, approx 30 to 35 hours a week, Fridays Half Day.
