SAN DIEGO – County Supervisor Greg Cox declared the month of February to be “Black History Month” in a presentation Tuesday at the County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Cox presented the proclamation to leaders of the African American Association of County Employees (AAACE), a new employee group that seeks to recruit, promote and inspire African American employees to connect and succeed through education and charitable causes that accomplish County initiatives.

“The Association is doing a great job of promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment at the County of San Diego and it is so appropriate that they accept this proclamation for Black History Month,” said Cox.

Accepting the proclamation were: Zenobia Howard, AAACE Interim President; Toroshinia Kennedy, AAACE Vice Chair of County Initiatives; and Debrah Champion-Wright, AAACE Secretary.

The Association is organizing events in the County in February to celebrate “Black History Month.”
