attendees were lined up for the big event. The Buffalo Soldiers did the presentation of the colors and Ms. Carmelia “Toot” Bell sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic. All of this after Mrs. Rosemary Pope provided a heartfelt welcome. 

But one of the early highlights was a special presentation by Mayor Todd Gloria and the connection he made to the importance of Black History as America’s history. He gave special appreciation to Mrs. Chida Warren-Darby, his Senior Staff Director of Boards and Commissions.
