Event participants were able to enjoy a car show, a three-point shootout contest, and some dunk-tank action; and also win prizes, hear powerful testimonies, and listen to some words of wisdom from people that care to share.

Encanto Park was buzzing with activity on the second Saturday of September.

The whole community was invited to join in for a day of meet and greet fun and games, food, music, dancing and multiple other exciting activities for free. The day’s events were paid for by numerous sponsors and some community-based churches.

Event participants were able to enjoy a car show, a three-point shootout contest, and some dunk-tank action; and also win prizes, hear powerful testimonies, and listen to some words of wisdom from people that care to share.

“We want people to get to know their neighbors, their law enforcement team, their City Council representatives, and the Pastors of the community,” Phillip Brown Sr., co-event organizer and Pastor at New Direction Church, shared. “Monica Montgomery-Steppe was here talking to the people and so were the Police Captain and Lieutenant of this district.”

“My coworker told me about this event ,so I thought I would bring the kids and see what the event was like. I think they did a great job putting this together. It was nice and the kids really enjoyed it,” Tammy Brown said.

From snow cones to kids zones, families were able to have some good old-fashioned fun at this month’s Peace in the Park Community Fest.
