For more than 20 years, Alyce proudly served as a Human Resources professional with the County of San Diego. Her commitment to community began long before that, through her work with organizations serving Southeast San Diego and her years of volunteer service.
Throughout her life, Alyce has been a passionate advocate for voting, economic opportunity, education, health equity, and the empowerment of Black women and young people. She has founded and co-founded numerous organizations, including the Black and African Women Rise Democratic Club, and has held leadership roles in organizations throughout San Diego and California.
Her dedication has earned her numerous honors, including the San Diego County Democratic Party Chair’s Award, recognition from the California Black Women’s Collective, and the 2022 Trailblazer Hall of Fame Award from the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa. She was also elected twice as an Assembly District Delegate and once as an Executive Board Member, and in 2016 received more than 112,000 votes as a candidate for public office.
Alyce is a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Godmother. She is the daughter of Marie Pipkin and carries her mother’s legacy of kindness and generosity wherever she goes. Above all her accomplishments, Alyce treasures her family and the people she has inspired throughout her remarkable journey.
Her greatest legacy is not simply what she has accomplished, but the lives she has touched, the young people she has encouraged, and the communities she has strengthened.
Alyce’s life is a testament to the power of love, service, leadership, and giving back.
