Last Saturday at Crawford High School, 79th District Assemblymember Dr. LaShae Sharp-Collins and supporters hosted their first health resource fair.
“Meet the people where they are and bring the services to them,” Dr. Sharp-Collins shared.
Health information booths were available, featuring literature and experts answering health-related questions. The event also featured mobile wellness clinics, free hygiene care packages, free school supplies, backpacks, and valuable community information.
“I like how Dr. Collins is visible in the community. I like an event like this that is designed to provide the community with the resources that we need to be physically and mentally successful,” said attendee Paul Stephens. “I was able to get my blood pressure checked, talk to the Medicare representatives, and get some much-needed information about my current Medicare situation.”
Dr. Collins continues to lead by example by shining a spotlight on crucial health needs in the community.
“When you think about the current federal administration and the fact that so many people in this community lost health coverage effective October 1st, I thought it was imperative that I brought services to one of our hardest-hit communities to make sure they can come in and get their flu shots and other health screenings,” Dr. Sharp-Collins shared. “I want to make sure my community members are not just surviving, but have an opportunity to thrive.”
