Saturday, February 3rd Kid Comics and Worldbeat Cultural Center hosted 2024’s
Black Comix Day event with the sun shining brightly on both days for the Black History Month weekend kick off. This year’s event brought out many families celebrating Black History Month, comic book artists, and writers of African descent. Comic book creators proudly displayed their work and told stories of how and why they were inspired to get into
comics. The diverse crowd in attendance was served healthy vegan foods and
beverages provided by Worldbeat Café.

Keithan Jones (Owner/Founder of Kid Comics) and Founder of the Black Comix Day
event said, “Young or old, the kid in you never dies. That’s the philosophy behind this
company. I created The Power Knights when I was 11 years old. In those years creating
comics on a professional level was just a dream. I felt I owed my younger self the
opportunity to make it a reality. We are betting there is a younger generation of readers
who are hungry for a new experience in the comic book format. Hungry for new heroes,
new villains and new worlds to populate their imaginations.”
