This is 2014, right?  A California school has come under fire for its plans on serving fried chicken and watermelon for lunch in honor of Black History Month.Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord, California is a private school in Northern California and the students had been brainstorming for ways that they could celebrate Black History Month.  The lunch menu was not quite what they had in mind.

Students and parents expressed outrage and anger to the administration about the insensitive lunch menu. According to NBC affiliate KNTV-TV, the Principal Nancy Libby has given a response to the backlash.

“I’d like to apologize for the announcement and any hurt this caused students, parents or community members,”Libby said in the letter. “Please know that at no time at Carondelet do we wish to perpetuate racial stereotypes.”

If they did not want to perpetuate racial stereotypes then why would they even suggest such a menu or think that it would go over well with anybody.  This principal and all administration involved need to lose their jobs. They apparently do not have an ounce of common sense and do not need to be in authority over school children.

Although it does not take a college professor to see how people would be offended, University of San Franciscoprofessor James Taylor gives his explanation.  (continue story here)
