Celebrate Earth Month with the County

Earth Day, which is celebrated on Monday, April 22, connects people to the public spaces where wildlife and nature thrive. The global theme this year is Planet vs. Plastics.

The County is transforming Earth Day into Earth Month by holding a series of events highlighting sustainable activities that will span through the month of April to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Earth Day, which is celebrated on Monday, April 22, connects people to the public spaces where wildlife and nature thrive. The global theme this year is Planet vs. Plastics. 

Below is a list of events happening in San Diego in celebration of Earth Month.

  • Earth Fair at County Operations Center; 11am-1pm on April 22
  • Tree Planting and Park Beautification Opportunities; 9am-2pm on April 20
  • Self-led Activities: Earth Day arts and crafts and park ranger-led hikes.
  • Nature Discovery Tables: Learn about local wildlife and the unique adaptations that help them survive in a variety of habitats. 
  • Step foot on a story trail: Visit one of the following recreation destinations during Earth Week (April 20 – 27) for an English/Spanish literary adventure!
  • Adams County Park (Valley Center)
  • Flinn Springs County Park (El Cajon)
  • Lake Morena County Park (Campo)
  • Lincoln Acres County Park (National City)
  • Louis A. Stelzer County Park (Lakeside)
  • Otay Lakes County Park (Chula Vista)
  • San Dieguito County Park (Del Mar)

Other fun activities:

  • Color, play games, solve mysteries, and create your own science experiments at home.
  • Grow your own food at one of San Diego County’s community gardens.
  • Take a virtual hike of San Diego trails and discover your local ecosystem.
  • Discover how the County is committed to restoring equity in our communities.
  • Explore museums, visit global landmarks, admire artworks, and play games.
