Clarence Kelly
December 29th, 1922 – December 22nd, 2016
Clarence Kelly was the first of two children born to Dewey and Bertha Kelly on December 29th, 1922 in Wesson, Arkansas. He attended grade school in Calion, Arkansas and graduated from Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Clarence accepted Christ at the age of twelve. He was baptized at Willow Grove Baptist Church in Calion, Arkansas. 1943 at the age of 18, he was drafted into the United States Navy. Shortly after training he was deployed to Honolulu for two years an was honorably discharged in 1945. Clarence was a mason and a member of G.A. Thompson Lodge #79 for over fifty years. Clarence relocated to San Diego, California. Shortly after, his children, Clarence Jr. and Gloria came to live with him. Clarence worked as a barber and a cab driver until he was hired at North Island Naval Station as a Production Control Technician. After 28 dedicated years in Civil Service, he decided to retire. In 1958, he met Lishie Russell and they were married in 1962. They shared fifty-four beautiful years together. Clarence was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, J.W. Kelly, his son Clarence Kelly Jr., his daughter Gloria Route and his granddaughter, Pam. Clarence Kelly was called home to be with his Lord on December 22nd, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Lishie Kelly; two daughters, Shirley Abram and Shunder Watts; sons Anthony and Rodney; 19 grandchildren, Keith, Malissa, Monica, LaShawn, Roshell, Darren, Tiffany (Kevin), Larry, Lamont, Desmond, Nikkia, Sharice, Delbert, Xavier, Zachary, Marcell, Julian and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and his Mt. Erie Church Family.
