Clarina Vanecia Williams

Clarina Vanecia Williams was born October 30, 1923, in Pine
Bluff, Arkansas. She was the last of fourteen children born to Frank
Braxton Self and Joanna West Self. Known to family and close friends as “Boss,” Clarina received her formal education in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating high school, at the age of sixteen, Clarina went to live with her sister Faye in Toledo, Ohio. In 1944, on a visit to Oakland, California, she met Charles Nathaniel Williams, the love of her life. On August 13, 1945, the two were joined in Holy Matrimony. They moved to San Diego, California in 1947, raising a family of four in one home during a marriage that lasted for sixty-five years. As a house wife and mother, Clarina was active in her community with the San Diego Urban League, The League of Women Voters, The San Diego NAACP and Logan Temple A.M.E. Zion Church. On Sunday, February 7, 2016, God called Clarina Vanecia Williams home to walk eternally with her husband, Charles. Clarina is survived by her children: Kenneth Williams, Beverly Kilbourne, Michael Williams and Michelle Wilbert; two siblings; Nolan Self of Junction City, Kansas and Loretta Williams of Richmond, California. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Graveside Services were held Monday, February 15, 2016 at Riverside National Cemetery. Final arrangements were entrusted to Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary.
