Among these great musicians is a young man named David Dredden. He comes from a musical family, plays several instruments, and first recognized his gift at the age of eight. Without any lessons he tinkered around with the organ and drums. The Lord blessed his efforts and at twelve years old he became the fulltime musician at his church, from there the outstanding musician and choir director was born. He has a knack for leading people into the presence of God and believes that music is another avenue for delivering the word of God. “Music has a way of getting into your spirit without your permission,” was his response to the importance of music in the church. From simple commercial jingles to the most intricate arrangements music sticks with you and God has chosen Dredden as a vessel to transport people into worship.
In 2002 Dredden was directed to gather a local group of young singers to lead praise and worship at a youth service. The response to the group was astounding and after much prodding they continued to minister in song. They went to God in prayer asking him to give a name to their ministry and He responded, “Undefeated.” The creation and success of Undefeated has been time consuming, but they are a very family oriented group. With his wife, Kristen, being a member they still get a nice balance of ministry and family time. Dredden says his toughest battle has been getting people to see his vision and understand that Undefeated is about more than just singing.
After six years of ministering with Undefeated, God led Dredden to host the annual “Blood Concert.” Every Good Friday, Undefeated Ministries puts on this event. Friday April 18th at New Creation Church the Blood Concert once again ushered the people into the presence of God. “What’s the purpose of having these concerts if we are leaving the same way we came in?” Said Dredden as he invited the attendees to let go and join in the worship. The sanctuary was filled to capacity and overflowing with worshipers. Where two or three are gathered in His name, He shall be in the midst. The presence of God could definitely be felt.
This concert was more than just music. It was an experience with God. A reminder of the tremendous sacrifice at Calvary, the blood that was shed, and the power it possesses. Every instrument played, vocal rendition, and cry of hallelujah was an anthem unto God that summoned his presence. The melodious sound was such a sweet smelling savor that he brushed the congregation with his glory. Undefeated covered some classic favorites such as God blocked it by Kurt Carr and He turned it by Tye Tribett. They ended the night performing their new single Celebrate. Celebrate released Friday on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and the response was amazing. It quickly rose to the top 200 in iTunes downloads, beating out well known staples in the gospel music industry.
