On Thursday, June 18, Dr. John Warren of the Voice & Viewpoint was asked to be the guest speaker for Thrive Lemon Grove’s Juneteenth celebration.
Held at the Lee House at Treganza Heritage Park in Lemon Grove, Dr. Warren led a valuable discussion on the true meaning and importance of Juneteenth.
“I asked him if he could be our guest speaker because every time I heard him speak, he was so informative on a multitude of subjects. He answered everybody’s questions with such ease and so much depth,” event coordinator Minola Mason shared.
Along with this discussion, the event featured live music and a spoken word performance. Community members were invited to enjoy the Lemon Grove Farmer’s Market, which featured food and retail vendors, family-friendly activities, and a chance to come together to celebrate in honor of such a significant holiday.
