Emily Lashae Rew was born on March 9, 1989, to Dwayne Michael Rew and Pamela Snowden in San Diego, CA. From the age of 9, she was raised by her father, and they were like two peas in a pod.
As a child, Emily was a founding member of New Life Baptist Church in 1997, where she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by her uncle, Pastor Troy Owens. She was actively involved in the Junior Usher Ministry, Youth Ministry, Sunday School, Youth Choir, and Women of New Life.
Emily matriculated through the San Diego School District. She attended Alice Birney
Elementary and Knox Elementary Schools, Roosevelt Middle School, and Scripps Ranch High School, where she graduated in 2007. After graduation, she continued her education at United Education Institute, where she became certified as a Pharmacy Technician.
Upon completing her certification, Emily began working as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS before eventually changing career paths. Because of her love for the environment and children, she left CVS and became a canvasser for Greenpeace and International Children, organizations that fight poverty, provide education, and support children’s health globally.
Although she dedicated much of her time to meaningful causes, Emily also drove for Lyft and Uber on the side. This experience sparked her love for driving and being outdoors, which ultimately led to her final position with Lyft and her move to Temecula.
Emily was quiet in spirit but very outgoing. She loved spending time with her close cousins at Granny’s house and cherished moments with her family and friends.
Emily passed away on March 24, 2026.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father Dwayne Rew (Eva), her mother Pamela Snowden, her sisters; Ashley Hornsby and Camille Rew, her brothers; Ondre Jackson, Cameren Wilburn, and Dwayne Rew, her grandmothers; Shirley (“Granny”) Hillard and Bettye Snowden, her grandfathers; George Rew and JohnnyRay Modest, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
