CAMPER, FANNIE-1FANNIE FAYE CAMPER was called home to be with the Lord at the age of eighty-seven on Friday, March 25, 2016 at her residence in San Diego, California after a courageous battle with cancer. Fannie was born on March 28, 1928 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Victor and Nealie Edwards. In 1939, at the age of eleven, Fannie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Old Saint Mary Baptist Church in Red River Parish, Coushatta, Louisiana. During the early 1960s, Fannie moved to San Diego, California. Shortly afterwards, she met the love of her life, Robert Camper. They were united in Holy Matrimony in 1965. Together, they raised two beautiful children, Harry and Denise. Fannie was employed as a cook for eighteen years at Mission Convalescent Hospital. In 1993, Fannie and Robert joined Bethel Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of Dr. John W. Ringgold. Fannie was a faithful and active member of the Senior Usher Board, Ruth Circle of the Missions Ministry, and also served as a Deaconess. Fannie enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. She was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a giving nature, a wonderful sense of humor and was also a great storyteller. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister, Elizabeth E. Landers. Fannie is survived by her devoted husband of fifty years, Robert Camper; her son, Harry Williams (Elaine) of Chula Vista, CA; her daughter, Denise Camper-Williams (John) of Portsmouth, VA; her sister, Vera Edwards of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Bryana, Johniece and Jamal; and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will mourn her passing, yet celebrate her life.
