Chattanooga, TN Chocolatesister.com is an afrocentric neo-soul clothing boutique founded byfashion entrepreneur Dorothy Mitchell. Dorothy is also the owner of Jabo Model Management Modeling and Talent Agency, which successfully opened in 1999 and is still going strong. Her inspiration for Chocolatesister boutique was prompted by First Lady Michelle Obama’s non-apologetic determination for change and self-growth, and her theme for the online store is: “Mother Nature Will Never Apologize For Your Natural, and Neither Should You!”
The boutique opened its doors in 2010 with an online following of savvy fashionista shoppers that were looking for something a bit more defining and self relevant. With the launch of the boutique and now the announcement of their long-awaited Jasmine and Clementine shampoo and conditioner for ethnic hair, this boutique is defiantly turning heads in a big way.
Chocolatesister’s relentless ability to blend a cultural mixture of merchandise and pay close attention to detail goes beyond their customer’s expectations. This is self evident of their sustainable practices and uncompromising quality. When clients and colleagues are asked to describe the vibe of the boutique, the words that are brought to the forefront are: retro soul, afrocentric, funky, and one-of-a-kind.
When asked, “What makes the way you do business interesting or unique?” Dorothy replied, “We still believe in an oldfashion way of doing business. An honest day’s work for an honest dollar, we believe that respect comes with hard work so we do just that to earn it. We strongly are in support of ‘women helping women’ and this is what our sustainability is based on.”
Products sold by the boutique include urban accessories, bath & beauty products, and afrocentric home & decor products.
