Obiits 3-24-160002Gloria Dean Leger was born on December 9, 1945 in Lake Charles, LA to Cobby and Vella Green. Gloria was the second born of eight children. She played a huge part in caring for her young siblings. Gloria attended both grade school and high school in the Lake Charles school district. She graduated from WO Boston High school. Gloria was an amazing cook which led her to employment as a cook at the Greyhound bus station where she worked for several years. She later devoted her time to being a homemaker, caring for her husband and children. Gloria was a caregiver by nature; she met no strangers and was always looking for ways to brighten up someone’s day. She had an undeniably genuine heart for people. She didn’t care who you were and where you came from she treated everyone as if they were important to her. She was intelligent, loving and extremely faithful, Gloria was a rare jewel. Gloria moved to San Diego, CA in 1976 with her children where she remained until the Lord called her home. Gloria joined Miracle Deliverance Temple church of God in Christ in 1978 under the leadership of Pastor John L. Wilson. Gloria was a faithful member who willingly took on every task assigned by her Pastor. Gloria was an ardent church worker, she was a Sunday School Teacher fir a number of years, Hospitality Board President, Member of the trustee board, Church fiance secretary, Finance Board Director, She was the very first Vice President of the women’t ministry under the leadership of the late Mother Bertha Wilson, a member of the Board of Directors, the Mother of the Youth Ministries and most importantly a very effective soul winner. Her Pastor knew he could always count on her to work diligently with a spirit of excellence. Gloria would often tell her Pastor that he was her best friend, He loved and cared for her unconditionally. She also had a deep love and respect for her church family, the members of Miracle Deliverance Temple held a special place in her heart. On Tuesday, March 8th the Lord decided that Gloria had ran a good race, she had kept the faith and now it was time for her to reap her eternal reward. She did what the Lord placed her on this earth to do, she fed the hungry, took care of the sick, visited those in prison and took care of the poor. You could often find her ministering to the youth, they all loved her and would reach out to her when they felt no one else understood or cared, she would know the worst about a person, yet still loved them with God’s kind of love. Gloria will be sorely missed She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Roy Paul Willis Jr, Michael Jerome Willis, Sharon Yvette Hall/Theodore Hall Sr. (preceded in death) all of San Diego, Ca. and Marian Louise Green/Woodrow Miller, III of Lake Charles, LA.
