The place was Marie Widman Park on Imperial Avenue. About 75 to 100 people gathered on a brisk afternoon. There was a jumper for the children, and chairs for attendees to hear how “Jesus is Reaching Out to Your Neighborhood in Love.” The outreach included free clothes, shoes, food, toys (for ages 0 -14, with the requirement that children had to be present), spoken word, free haircuts for children and the homeless by the Urban Barber College, Hollywood Smiles for You, Mary Kay, and face-painting for the kids.
The event was scheduled from 1pm until 4pm, but Evangelist Precolia Bell said, “Until we run out of things to give.” For those who missed this event, it will happen again in January 2020. Evangelist Bell says she has been feeding people in San Diego for more than 30 years, much of which is done from her church location weekly on Imperial Avenue.
