Dear SDCCE Community and Supporters,
We are excited to officially kick off Campus Built Together, a community-driven campaign that will guide us toward identifying a new permanent name for our Harbor View Campus.
This important process will be grounded in a restorative framework, creating meaningful opportunities for members of our campus community and surrounding neighborhoods to share their perspectives, experiences and hopes for the future of the campus. Our goal is to ensure that the new name reflects the people, history, and community we serve.
We are especially excited to share that Restorative Justice Practitioners Nina Harris and Duke Fisher will be joining us on September 3 to facilitate two restorative renaming sessions designed to help us explore and identify potential names for the campus.
Location: Harbor View Campus, 1901 Main St., San Diego, CA 92113
Date: Thursday, September 3
Afternoon session: 2 to 4 p.m.
Evening session: 6 to 8 p.m.
No RSVP required.
We encourage you to share this opportunity with anyone in our campus community or surrounding neighborhoods who may be interested in participating and sharing their thoughts and feedback about the future name of Harbor View Campus.
Additional Harbor View Restorative Renaming Circles will be scheduled in late-September and early-October at the Harbor View Campus, Mid-City Campus, and via Zoom.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to those working to move this initiative forward, including our Executive President’s Cabinet, DEIAA Coordinator Esteban Alvarado, Professional Development Coordinator Carla Grossini-Concha, Research Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Dean Luedtke, and Associate Dean Jesus Rivas. This work truly reflects what is possible when we come together across our college to listen, collaborate, and build something meaningful with our community.
We are incredibly grateful for your commitment, engagement and dedication to helping shape the future of our campus. We look forward to working together throughout the fall semester and identifying a permanent name for the campus by the end of the fall semester.
