Tuesday evening in San Diego is usually a quiet time for the working community living near Bay View Baptist Church (on the corner of 6134 Timothy Winters St. and 61st Street) However, on the evening of Tuesday, May 19th, there was an energetic meeting hosted by The Diamond Community Investors Advisory Council (DCIAC). This focused group of investors had gathered to review, renew, and recommit to the mission that they had established years ago. That mission was to financially and personally work to build a legacy of dignity and prosperity by trusting in the innovative vision of being a rare owner in the Market Creek Plaza (located at the corner of Market and Euclid) Due to the complexity of the design for this real estate and security exchange partnership, learning the language of the financing has continued to be a challenge.
The Diamond Community Investors Advisory Council is committed to honoring Joe and Vi Jacob’s vision to preserve and advance the initial opportunities within the Diamond Community of San Diego. They also desired to promote current social, economic, and future investments.
Each attendee was asked to consider becoming more active and to encourage others to positively engage with businesses within the plaza by shopping in the neighborhood. Moving forward, the DCIAC knows that there is a critical need for ideas for growth and for employment opportunities for youth in our community, if this investment opportunity is to build and expand into the future.

As an investor group, in the midst of a one-of-a-kind purchase, each of us will continue to transform our community. We can be proud of what has been accomplished over the past decade. But all of us will need to take more initiative to ensure that this opportunity doesn’t slip away due to a lack of our attention and involvement.
If community members want to learn more about this very rare investment, contact a Diamond Community Investor Advisory Council Member and learn how to participate in building a successful legacy.
What Comes Next in Developing the Investment That Began with The Diamond Community Investors
Each investor was asked to share workable ideas for bringing employment projects to the community for our youth, through internships that others could also support. Continue to speak to others about the creative ways that can be developed into employment openings. Encourage others to consider wealth-building careers outside of entertainment and sports. Consider ways to produce items that people need that will generate income and opportunity for growth.
Is there a minority owned bank or cooperative where our youth could train for future wealth? We can prepare for an economic downturn and be successful by working as a focused unit.
