Jerald Wayne Arellano
May 29th, 1959 – March 31st, 2016
Jerald Wayne Arellano was born May 29, 1959 in Santa Monica, California, to the parents of Phillip & Patricia Arellano Jerald aka “Jerry” was the eldest of three children. The Arellano family purchased their first home in La Mesa, California in 1963, where he grew up and received his formative education from Maryland Avenue Elementary, La Mesa Jr. High, and Helix High School where he graduated in 1977. Jerry and his siblings grew up playing and loving sports. Jerry was an outstanding football player and track runner while he attended Helix and had dreams of pursuing football at the next level. Unfortunately he suffered an injury, but during this time of recovery he discovered his true calling. Jerry furthered his education at Mesa College and obtained his Associates Degree in Building Construction Technology. While taking courses and working to complete his apprenticeship, he became a Journeyman Cement Mason and joined the Cement Mason’s Union Local 744 in 1982. Construction work was a passion of Jerry’s and he put his true talents and independent way of being to work on many projects and jobs. He even worked on laying the cobblestone at our famed Seaport Village. There was this challenge of building a home in under 4 hours. Jerry and his brother Tony were both apart of this record breaking event, which can be seen on YouTube. Throughout Jerry’s Life he worked for several construction companies early in his career, however, he eventually became an entrepreneur and as a result he and his brother Tony started “Kustom Koncrete” construction company in 1990. Jerry went on to do construction work for the rest of his life and worked in various parts of California including Fresno, Clovis and Big Bear. Jerry had an abiding faith in God as he accepted Christ at an early age, and he rededicated his life to our Lord and Savior in 1978. Jerry was a Deacon at North Park Apostolic under the leadership of Pastor Joel Trout Sr. Jerry loved the Word of God and knew scripture forward and back. You could often find Jerry sharing his love for the Lord with others through Facebook and just good ol’ conversation. Jerry met his first love, Pixie Hawkins, while in high school and they later married in 1978. From this union Jerry and Pixie were blessed with their only child Andre. Although his first marriage ended, they remained friends. Jerry had a second union of marriage to Stacey Caha in 2000. Stacey was blessed with two children of her own, Ashley and Dominique. Stacey and Jerry were later blessed with the birth of their daughter Angelica. The family relocated to Fresno where Jerry utilized his trade and helped raise his family. His marriage to Stacey also ended on paper and Kerry found himself back in La Mesa working independently and helping those that he grew up in and you can see signs of his craft all over. In his last years he was able to share his knowledge with his son and helped work on some house flipping projects with the business that his son Andre and Andre’s best friend Jimmie started. Jerry was a devoted father, an excellent provider, and a very hard worker. Jerry loved God, his children and his parents. He truly valued God’s word as Exodus 20-12 states “Honor your Father and Mother” and he did exactly that. Jerry was called to be with the Lord on March 31st 2016 in the very home that he grew up in and shared so many fond memories with his family. But the Lord found fit to give him a new home not made with man’s hands. Surviving to celebrate Jerry’s kind, humble and caring life are his parents, Phil & Patricia; brother, Tony (Kami Arellano); sister, Susan (Roy Rozok); children Andre and Angelica; stepchildren, Ashley and Dominique; as well as a host of Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives and friends.
