The Calvary Baptist Church, under the guidance of Dr. Kevin Stafford, celebrated their 3rd annual friends and family event on August 1st.
“Keeping it Kingdom” was this year’s rally cry at Admiral Bakersfield Park and the next day at the historical Calvary Baptist Church.
On Saturday, the congregation got together for a first-class feast that included generous portions of fried chicken, fish, BBQ ribs, links, hot dogs, some mean greens, and good old mac and cheese.
The good vibes and music were provided by SD’s premier DJ, John Phillips. Card games, musical chairs, water-balloon toss, and softball brought a lot of laughs and friendly competition.
The good times and fellowship continued on Sunday at the church.
Following church service, it was time for some more entertainment featuring the good-sounding New Vision band and Los Angeles-based comedian Edwanda White. Ms. White provided the jokes that provoked the laughs from the event attendees with her unique brand of humor.
“The weekend was outstanding. God blessed this event both Saturday and Sunday,” Jonita Pierce, co-event coordinator, shared.
