LEONARD DELTER CLARK

LEONARD DELTER CLARK, affectionately known as “Lenny” by family and friends, was born on December 23, 1928 to proud parents, Catherine and Delter Clark in East Orange, New Jersey. He was the youngest of five siblings. After graduating from East Orange High School, Leonard enlisted in the United States Army, where he served as a GED Instructor. After receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1953, he established his own business, “Kardinal Decorating”. In 1952, Leonard married Carol Clark and they remained married for twenty-five years. Four children were born from this union: Robin, Ryan, Leonard Jr. and Russ. Lenny came to San Diego, California to visit his sister, Betty, in 1998 and met the love of his life, Judy Johnson. The following year he relocated from New Jersey to San Diego to be with her. They were married in February of 2009 and remained in San Diego until his passing. Lenny accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Highland Park Church.  He was an active disciple of New Seasons Church, Spring Valley, California under the leadership of Bishop A. B. Vines until he transitioned to be with his Lord. Lenny was a Mason, an active member of his community, prayer warrior and a die-hard Jets fan. He loved fishing, boating, swimming, bowling, the outdoors and spending time with family. He was a founding member of the R.O.M.E.O. (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Breakfast Club and enjoyed having breakfast every Monday with his fellow members. He also enjoyed going to the Padres Spring Training Camp in Arizona every year. We recently celebrated Lenny’s 88th birthday at the home of his loving nephew, Carl and wife, Marci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delter and Catherine Clark; his brother, Kenneth Clark and sisters, Audrey Wilson and Betty Johnson. Lenny leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Judy; sister, Shirley Durant; his children, Robin White (Duane), Ryan Clark (fiancé Alycia), Leonard Clark, Jr., Russ Clark, Sheryl Cyprian and Edith Grant (Derek); thirteen grandchildren: Clayton, Hassan, Talia, Andrew, Leonard, Taylor, Ryan, Kerryn, Jazmine, Jada, Jordyn, Sophia and Hannah; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, many close and dear friends, neighbors and his extended church family. Memorial Services were held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at New Season’s Church, Spring Valley, CA; inurnment at Miramar National Cemetery. Final arrangements were entrusted to Anderson-Ragsdale Mortuary.
