Dear Editor:
I think it is biased to get a quote from Mario Lewis and not talk to someone on the other side whom he was making accusations against. I am in the community fighting against gang violence.
Mario Lewis said, “You see these organizations and people coming into the community without figuring out who is already trying to do something about the violence within the community.” His statement lets me know that he doesn’t know what is going on in his own community.
When there is a gang shooting, assault, or homicide I am in the streets reaching out to gang members to prevent further violence. I don’t get one penny for all the work I am doing in the community. To call people like myself a poverty pimp is an insult.
I respect and appreciate how the San Diego Voice and Viewpoint gives the people a voice. So please give us a voice against some of the false accusations that Mario Lewis made. I pray and hope you all do a follow-up story.
