Love, legacy, and new beginnings took center stage on Juneteenth as San Diego publicist Janta Corley-Milner and accomplished screenwriter Charles Gillis exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony on June 19, 2026, at Bramble Bay Venue in Imperial Beach.

Surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones, the couple celebrated their union on a day that symbolized both freedom and hope for the future.

Both born and raised in Southeast San Diego, Corley-Milner and Gillis share a love story deeply rooted in their community. The couple attended Lincoln High School, where they first met as teenagers and even attended prom together. What began as a high school romance blossomed into a lifelong friendship and, ultimately, an enduring love story that has come full circle decades later.

Corley-Milner, a respected figure in San Diego’s entertainment and media community, has built an impressive career in public relations. Beginning her journey as an intern with M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc., she steadily rose through the ranks to become an accomplished publicist known for amplifying the voices of artists, entrepreneurs, and organizations throughout Southern California.

Over the years, Corley-Milner has played an instrumental role in the success of numerous events and media campaigns, including her work with M.A.N.D.A.T.E. Records Inc., GODRadio1.com, Jazz at the Creek, the San Diego County Fair’s Gospel Day, and various community initiatives. Her story – from intern to publicist – stands as a testament to perseverance, faith, and purpose.

Gillis, an emerging force in the film industry, has earned recognition for his screenwriting achievements. His projects, Gridiron and The Prince Charming Chronicles, were named quarterfinalists in the prestigious 2018 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenwriting Competition and the 2019 Stage 32 Sci-Fi Screenwriting Competition. Additionally, Gridiron was recognized as a quarterfinalist in the 2018 ScreenCraft Action & Adventure Screenwriting Competition, further showcasing Gillis’ talent for crafting compelling and imaginative stories for the screen.

The couple’s Juneteenth wedding reflected their shared commitment to faith, creativity, family, and community. Guests witnessed a heartfelt ceremony filled with love, joy, and celebration as the newlyweds embarked on their next chapter together.

As Mr. and Mrs. Gillis begin married life, they do so united by a passion for storytelling, service, and making a meaningful impact through their respective crafts.

The newlyweds reside in San Diego County, where they continue to invest in the community that shaped them both.
